Robert Finch sees the need for an ethical theory to guide the lives of secularists. In his book titled "Great Objectives" (published by Xlibris), Finch explains the thought process behind what is deemed the grand intentions of humans throughout history-religion, fame, power and money.

This book tackles the history of ethical thought and provides strong evidence for naturalism as a guiding, ethical principal. It explains what humanism is about and includes those of native tribes who used ethical and moral principles with no background of religious principles. Many accounts are also given for historical explanations of natural events using reason and evidence instead of supernatural aspects related to religions. Finch points out that science and reasoning is a major part of one's culture. He gives solid historical evidence for such philosophical thinking and this book illustrates the train of thought involved in the thinking process, explaining how man's great objectives have changed and modified over time.

"The enormous progress we have made in the recent past in physics, astronomy, biology, paleoanthropology, philosophy, psychology and sociology are sweeping away the old traditions of human thought, and we are open to new thinking," Finch says. "This book is based on proven academic and ethical principles."

"Great Objectives" hopes to make readers think, both those who disagree with the humanist viewpoint and those who are humanists invariably learn about new topics and theories.
