Religious Questions Examined in New Book

In his newest publication, "Unfinished Journey" (published by Xlibris), author Simon Glustrom delves into the thorny issues of religious faith that trouble not only the laity but also members of the clergy of all faiths, who are reluctant to question whether they honestly believe what they publicly preach.

Partly autobiographical, this book reveals the author's personal journey as he begins to question and even doubt what he was taught to accept as irrevocable truths. In recent years, he has begun to understand what he can comfortably believe while still maintaining his personal integrity as a teacher of religious values and traditions. The rabbi maintains that his "bout with doubt" has helped him develop a more mature understanding of what faith can and cannot achieve for the modern generation.

About the Author
Simon Glustrom was born in Atlanta, Ga. He enrolled at Yeshiva College in New York City, graduating in 1944. He was ordained from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1948. Rabbi Glustrom's first pulpit was in Durham, N.C., where he and his wife Helen, spent two years. In 1950, the rabbi accepted an appointment to serve as the first rabbi at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center, a new suburban congregation in Bergen County, N.J. He remained with the growing congregation until his retirement in 1991 when he was granted the title of rabbi emeritus. As an active participant in the Rabbinical Assembly, the author served as chairman of the publications committee. He was also a member of the editorial committee that revised the Sabbath and Festival Prayerbook, Siddur Sim Shalom, as well as the daily prayer book.
