70 years after being born, author Philip Klaus knows who his parents are.

Klaus narrates his firsthand account of this 70-year journey to discovering his biological history in his new book, "Blood Ties." Brought home by adoptive parents only five days after his birth in November of 1940, Klaus grew up searching for his sense of identity and his origins.

Throughout his tireless journey to discover his family's history, he was faced with gut-wrenching anguish, disappointing setbacks, and never-ending twists and turns. "I never thought I'd write a book," Klaus said. "But when I began sharing my story with others, I realized how much hope it could give to others in similar situations, and that was all the motivation I needed."

Over 135,000 children in the United States are adopted each year, impacting hundreds of thousands of families in the process. Some search for their biological histories, while others choose to never go looking.

"My story really goes to prove that if you have your heart set on something and put in the time and effort, you can make it happen," Klaus said. "After 70 years of searching, all it took was one phone call and my life was forever changed."
