SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Personal Capital, the leading online financial advisory firm, today released its first eBook, A Better Financial Life. Written by Craig A. Birk, executive vice president of portfolio management and a certified financial planner at Personal Capital, the book is a guide to managing money in the digital age.

"I believe that anyone can ensure a fruitful retirement with the right plan," said Birk. "With this book, my goal is to show people how to build an actionable financial plan, in part through the use of digital tools, and provide easy-to-use strategies for saving, spending, investing and planning for future generations. From wills and trusts to paying for college, people need to be armed with the know-how to take control of their money."

Birk has spent the last four years at Personal Capital leading the portfolio management team. During this time, he helped design the Retirement Planner and Investment Checkup features on the Personal Capital platform to show families how to become smarter investors. Prior to joining Personal Capital, he spent twelve years at Fisher Investments, helping the company grow to over $40 billion in assets. He managed account implementation for over 20,000 accounts. Birk is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and has a passion for financial planning and investment analysis.

"Craig's expertise in wealth management and his knowledge of the industry makes him an incredible asset for any investor, which is why he's at the forefront of our portfolio management program," said Bill Harris, CEO, Personal Capital. "His understanding of how to help investors take steps today to meet their long-term goals is what makes his book such a valuable guide."
