'Paris, I've Grown Accustomed to Your Ways,' is Humorous Travel Memoir

In her new book, "Paris, I've Grown Accustomed to Your Ways" - the sequel to, "Me, Myself and Paris" - writer and humorist Ruth Yunker continues the charming account of her extended stay in Paris as part-time resident, part-time tourist. Her new book offers a witty perspective on life as an American woman in the City of Light and empowers women traveling solo.

More and more women are traveling alone or with like-minded spirits; an estimated 32 million in the past year, according to the Travel Industry Association.

"Women traveling solo is a growing trend in travel. We have a new determination to go where we want, when we want, and no longer feel the need to have someone with us," Yunker says. "We have a growing independence and the means to travel where we want. So, we buy our ticket and go."

In "Paris, I've Grown Accustomed to Your Ways" Yunker shares what it's like to straddle the line between sightseeing tourist and Parisian resident immersed in the city's culture. She delves deeply to discover what makes the heart of Paris sing, and emerges more in love than ever.

"The story is all about being the best American woman I can be while abroad - laughing and stumbling and getting it right, and learning I can shop in Paris and get out alive!" says Yunker.

Readers can feel what it's like to revel in the amber warmth of Angelina's chocolate Eden on a cold November day, or walk the vivacious streets as an amused observer. They'll find out there are rules for finishing one's plate in restaurants. And like Yunker, they'll learn to love the unique personality of Paris, its residents and everyday life.

She also offers the occasional unvarnished bit of advice for women traveling solo.

"Traveling is fraught with peril, but you would never know it from the average tourists' guides," she writes in her book. "However, if reality is a prized part of your life, come to me, baby. I'll spare you the angst of disappointment, and I'll give you the juicy bits, the cracks, the creaks, the solutions to having turned down the wrong, oh so wrong, street ... again."
