Online homework support website OoberKidsRepublic published its first cookery book, titled 'Pocket Money Cookery' with the aim to educate children on healthy, easy to cook and value for money meals.

The book was inspired by a number of community projects run by OoberKidsRepublic's owner Cecilia Valente. The hands on cookery projects involved educational groups and organisations and were designed to show kids that cooking can be healthy, tasty and, above all, fun. The book mantra is 'Cooking is great big fun, come rain, snow or sun'.

Pocket Money Cookery was initially produced via a crowdfunding project and given to a number of educational organisations, charity bookshops and schools. Cecilia has now commissioned a brand new version as a resource for parents to use at home to get their children interested in fast food that is also good for them. The book also introduces budgeting and meal planning and tips by a registered nutritionist, with experience of working with parents and children.

A family Affair

Pocket Money Cookery is a collection of family recipes and include funny and quirky facts about their origin. The 10 recipes capture Southern Italian traditions passed from parents to child for generations but are also simple for children to prepare, and aim to prove that healthy food can help them grow and think better. Pocket Money Cookery also encourages them to create their own recipes, at the end of the book.

Look after the pennies...

Good food needn't be expensive, that's why the ingredients are within pocket money range. Full of bright pictures and fun tips and facts, the book features a 'Curiosity Corner' with every recipe which allows children to learn the origin of the recipe and gives advice on how to get a bargain too. To make sure children understand the basics of cookery health and safety, the book features hygiene and safety advice with easy to remember kitchen 'do's' and 'don'ts'. With OoberKidsRepublic's foray into easy and family cookery parents can lead their children to a world of culinary discovery.

Pocket Money Cookery is now available £7.00 from the OoberKidsRepublic online shop.
