CENTEREACH, N.Y. - One of the most fascinating stories from the bible is that of Job's. This tale always spoke to author PJ Parisi. He found it such a strange story in how God would actually put Job's life through hell, seemingly to win a bet with the devil. In his new publication, "Last Call" (published by Xlibris), he explores the good and bad in a man, highlighting how far morals can take him and how far desires can set him back.

Something wicked has come to the town of West Alexander, where the devil serves as a puppet master to a rebellion by the town's youth. James Ryan has a life as close to idyllic as any typical American retiree: a nice house, a wonderful wife, a successful son and a part-time job to keep himself busy and contented. However, this peaceful existence shatters when he becomes the center of a wager placed by both the devil and God. Danny Satelop is a senior in West Alexander High School. He lost his way in life when his father died five years ago in a car accident. Though he is gifted in school, he lacks the social ques and gifts of gab that it takes to earn popularity. In an attempt to win over the new girl in school, he hesitantly follows his peers further into the Devil's grasp. The two stories intertwined as they are played out simultaneously. With James' loyalty to God in question, the fate of mankind rests in his faith alone.

"I want readers to get lost in the story. To believe these characters are real and stay true to themselves," Parisi says. "I want them to subtlety learn a little something about themselves when relating to these characters. I wish for people to be happy with themselves as individuals. Life is worth living and God is worth loving."

A current and compelling retelling of the book of Job set in the modern times; "Last Call" will captivate readers and lead them into an epic climax in the battle of good versus evil.
