Pete the Cat is an inquisitive housecat who explores to the outside world one day, finding things he never knew existed outside of his human family's backyard.

In the new young-adult adventure "Pete the Cat and Calico Joe: Cats Are Just like Us" (published by LifeRich Publishing) by author Bob Battersby, Pete the Cat discovers love, friendship, conflict and responsibility on his explorative expedition of the outside world. Battersby combines wit with charm to bring young readers a gentle introduction to the concepts of neutering pets, parenthood, bullying and relationships.

Along his journey, Pete the Cat encounters molly cats and tom cats of all sizes. He meets with and finesses his way out of a battle with an old, battle-scarred tom cat before finding both a friend and a romantic interest that live within a nearby clowder.

He meets Miss Jelly Bean, a very attractive tabby, and they have a litter of kittens together. But soon after the birth of the litter, Pete the Cat makes a fateful visit to the veterinarian and finds his attraction to the opposite sex severely diminished upon his return. He then bonds with another tom cat whose interest in attractive females is also but a distant memory.
