Elementary school teachers can make the most of children's irrepressible urge to ask questions with the help of an innovative pedagogical picture book. The Power of Questioning: Guiding Student Investigations is a new NSTA Press book that will help teachers teach and learn science when students ask about how the world works.

The Power of Questioning's foundation is a three-part instructional model based in questioning, investigation and assessment. To demonstrate how the model works, the book provides vivid pictures as well as links to special videos and audio recordings. Readers can hear teachers and students engage in questioning and watch two easy-to-adapt examples (involving plants and life cycles) of the model in action. Then readers can implement new strategies in their own classrooms, regardless of grade or topic.

Written by veteran educators, the book illustrates how to integrate Next Generation Science Standards, the Common Core State Standards, and STEM education practices. The Power of Questioning is the first in NSTA's new Powerful Practices series.
