In "A Life Story of an Ex - L.A. Cop" (published by Xlibris), author Jerry Blackburn recounts his years with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), providing key insights into some of the biggest changes in his community and country over the course of his life.

Blackburn begins his memoir with a discussion of his family's heritage and then opens up about his childhood in California during the Great Depression. After graduating, Blackburn spent time in Wyoming before returning to California and working with the Huntington Park Police Department.

His work with Huntington Park inspired him to enroll in the LAPD Academy. Blackburn's many colorful and engaging experiences with the LAPD fill the pages of "A Life Story of an Ex - L.A. Cop," as he chronicles the changes he has seen in his lifetime.

An excerpt from "A Life Story of an Ex - L.A. Cop":

"In 1998, my second wife Deli and I took the trip up to Paso Robles and saw the park and the monument. There was an old building in the park. And I thought it was maybe the Blackburn home, but it wasn't; it turned out to be the city library built in the 1930s long after the Blackburn home."
