LUANDA, Angola

"As the oil and gas (O&G) industry grows by leaps and bounds, so do data," says author Ahmad Maidinsar, "Then, there is a need for people involved in the oil and gas industry to manage data without compromise." Willing to aid his fellow O&G workers, Maidinsar releases "A Guide Book: Sub-surface Data Management For Data Managers (oil & gas sector) Volume-1 Seismic" (published by Xlibris).

After 30-plus years of experience working in 12 countries and 29 clients' site, Maidinsar has firm grasp and understanding when it comes to data management. Through his book, he unveils a simple guide whereby anybody interested in data management can abide to or follow without getting lost in the unchartered oceans of data. The step by step methodology, though seems orthodox, has been revisited so as to ensure no unnecessary repetition of work. The book will pave the way for O&G data management personnel to have a firm grip in handling seismic data entrusted to them and to deal with the data in a professional way with no "cutting corners".

Throughout this book, O&G data management personnel get to understand the basics of the seismic data and their management, and acquire additional skills that can be applied to any sub-surface data management with minimal changes to the workflow. The first of its kind in the market that is more specific in the industry, Maidinsar's publication aids in workers in the day to day rudimentary tasks of handling or managing sub-surface data from acquiring it up to backup or archiving.

In addition, the guide book will also assists Earth Sciences-major undergraduates in the introduction to the very basic of seismic data for those interested in working in the O&G industry in future.
