WARWICK, R.I.

After her husband, Gus, was diagnosed with liver cancer and passed away, author Michelle Caravelli and each of her four children decided to share their family's story of love, loss and healing by writing the new inspirational memoir, "My Husband Our Father: A Family's Walk through the Storm of Grief in Search of a Rainbow"(published by Balboa Press).

After losing her husband, Caravelli struggled in her life as a mother, widow and friend. Her four children also wrestled with their own feelings of grief and pain.

"Our family's complex grief created divisiveness among us and our communication with each other, which, in turn, compounded our grief," Caravelli says.

Through many trials, Caravelli's family slowly regained hope for the future.

"We have learned so many lessons throughout the healing process and found our voices again," Caravelli says. "Grieving equals healing and healing equals empowerment."

Her new book is designed to share the Caravelli family's experiences with others to connect, inspire, enlighten and empower those going through difficulties and losses of their own.

"While our book provides unique insight and an honest perspective of how we all grieve differently, our message does not end there," Caravelli says. "Our book takes a holistic approach, with each of our memoirs representing different puzzle pieces to the complete picture. When the reader reads all of the memoirs, he or she will then view the completed, dynamic picture."
