Marzano Book Explores SCHOOL LEADERSHIP FOR RESULTS

With school leader evaluation increasingly required at districts throughout the United States, schools are working to identify what an effective school leader looks like, how effectiveness can best be measured, and what steps district leaders should take to ensure fair, unbiased school leader evaluations.

In response, education researchers Beverly G. Carbaugh, Robert J. Marzano, and Michael D. Toth have written School Leadership for Results: Shifting the Focus of Leader Evaluation. Based on historical and contemporary research, this book, published by Learning Sciences International, explores the importance of evaluating school leaders based on growth, rather than on measurement alone.

The authors describe ways to transform evaluation into a model that measurably improves the performance of school leaders, while aligning their vision, mission, and goals with practices that impact teachers and students. They explore domains, scales, and evidences that address key questions and provides a clear course to help school leaders prepare for evaluations.
