NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Author Marvin Thomas motivates and inspires people through his poetry. In a world of politics, romance, war, social events, religion or just the successes or failures of one's life, "The Red Word in the Blue Mind" (published by Xlibris) is looking to reach different individuals on different levels.

The author has experienced what it is like to be in prison and he decides to share to the world the truth and the hardship he had been through - far from the famed and glorified version. He went through traumatizing events, but his hopes and dreams were not lost. This book tells the story of his life through a collection of poetry. His poems reflect his experiences, as well as those from other people he crossed paths with, revealing a journey into the depths of different individuals. They go further into the 'what' and 'why' of life, giving readers an inspiration from the trivial moments to the most detrimental and life-changing ones. This is not only a poetry book but also a documentary of Thomas' joys and pains.

An eye-opening and inspiring read, "The Red Word in the Blue Mind" mirrors the depth of the author's anguish and despair and his courage to turn his life around and overcome his shortcomings.
