KALAHEO, Hawaii

"Much of what started out as fiction became true in my life," reveals author Mark Daniel Seiler. In "Sighing Woman Tea" (published by Xlibris) he tells the story of Viridis, a tiny tea-producing island nation whose traditional way of life is being threatened by a large corporation that tries to control its tea operations.

"With larger-than-life antics, a firm setting, and a knowing wink at its own oddity, Sighing Woman Tea is a pleasure. Fans of small-town ensembles will relish this look at the struggle to protect a rich legacy," writes Karen Rigby of Clarion Reviews.

"The back cover of Mark Daniel Seiler's engaging novel, Sighing Woman Tea, counsels readers to "put on the kettle, and cozy up to a nice cup of tea." It's good advice. With humor, history and a reverence for tea, Seiler spins a tale that includes international trade agreements, a South Pacific island, the Crusades, cultural differences, military fiascos, love and a long list of characters. Somehow, all the pieces fit." --Blue Ink Reviews.

According to Kirkus Reviews, "The islanders face an enormous challenge: how to find an island way of protecting themselves. They call on sacrifice, patience, showmanship and the spirit of the island--and readers will join the cheering section. In his debut novel, Seiler deftly sketches memorable, diverse characters while drawing on fascinating historical background. Witty, idiomatic dialogue provides many pithy lines. This book has a unique and flavorful blend, by turns comic, poignant, philosophical and romantic. Steeped in the charm and traditions of tea drinking underlaid with serious thought about compassion, this novel is simply wonderful. Delight to read from start to finish."
