In "The Secret of Bridd" (published by AuthorHouse), a new fantasy novel for young readers, author Maria Dumitrescu - who writes as M.D. Millar - takes readers on a journey through betrayal and deceit, friendship and loyalty, and trust and sacrifice, all while highlighting how good can defeat evil when friends get together to fight for a noble cause.

"The Secret of Bridd" is the story of the Kingdom of Bridd, which is about to be invaded by an Emperor who has conquered many lands and killed thousands of innocent people. The King of Bridd, Lade-Gleal, can stop him, but he needs the help of his long lost brothers and sisters and the power of the Foursome. The group must learn to trust and depend on one another, but will they be able to face the ultimate price?

An excerpt from "The Secret of Bridd":

"And then he saw the transformation. His arms were not arms anymore, but wings, covered by greyish light feathers. Amazed, he looked at them turning to full grown wings and did not understand what was going on. Then, he felt something happening to his face. He could not tell what it was and there was no mirror for him to look into, but he could tell his nose was changing shape and his mouth was getting smaller. He tried to touch it with his arms, now completely covered by feathers and all he could feel was something hard and pointy."

Dumitrescu uses this book as a tool to teach young readers that good can defeat evil. She says, "I hope young people will see that being a friend is more important and has more value than being evil and a bully."
