A meerkat who would rather dance than work learns a valuable lesson in responsibility in Michele Voss' new children's book, "Molly, The Dancing Meerkat: A Lesson in Responsibility" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Molly is a curious young meerkat who loves nothing more than dancing. Within her burrow, each meerkat takes a turn watching for predators, but Molly refuses to take her turn and decides to go outside the burrow where there's more room to dance.

While twirling and pirouetting about, a hawk begins circling high above Molly, but she is too busy dancing to notice. Will someone on guard be able to warn Molly in time, and will this finally teach her a lesson in responsibility?

Packed with colorful illustrations, "Molly, The Dancing Meerkat" aspires to entertain young children with its rhyming verses. Voss hopes parents will use her book as a teaching tool to help their children understand the importance of responsibility.

"Schools all over the country are using character traits to teach values," Voss writes. "This book offers a fun way to introduce the concept of being responsible to primary age children."

"Molly, The Dancing Meerkat" will be featured at the 2015 California Library Association book fair.
