MCDONOUGH, Ga.

Over time, author Lori Hendrix watched as four members of her family and a dear friend succumbed to cancer. In her new memoir "When the Healing Doesn't Come" (published by Lulu), Hendrix describes her personal journey to spiritual healing and awakening after experiencing the devastating effects of cancer on those she loved.

"When the Healing Doesn't Come" tells the story of how cancer changed Hendrix's life forever. At first confused by, and angry with, God's plan for her loved ones, Hendrix later learns that God's plan involved building up her own strength and ability to forgive.

Throughout her book, Hendrix shows other readers who may be struggling to cope with cancer or the loss of loved ones that they, too, can find peace and comfort when recovery from cancer is no longer an option.

Hendrix says God healed her anger, comforted her grief and set her on a path to salvation and forgiveness through her most emotionally difficult times.

An excerpt from "When the Healing Doesn't Come":

"It is especially difficult to trust God when the healing doesn't come. We question his reasons. We blame him and turn away. But God always has a reason. God yearns for us to run to him in our sorrow."
