KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ For those who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), daily life can be filled with chaos, self-harm, disturbances in identity and overwhelming emotions.

Kansas City, Mo.-based Lilac Center specializes in helping those suffering from BPD and has just released its second workbook, "You Empowered."

The skills-based workbook is designed to tackle the challenges of BPD through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). "You Empowered" is the follow-up workbook to "You Untangled," and elevates emotional healing through overcoming past trauma and building on DBT skills mastered in book one.

"You Empowered" utilizes a novel philosophy that blends the principles of DBT and EMDR to promote mindful living, healthy relationships and emotional control. Worksheets and exercises throughout 17 chapters in "You Empowered" help readers discover the roots of personal trauma, learn ways to conquer the past and achieve a balanced life.

"Combined, DBT and EMDR offer a dynamic support system that can reduce suffering and give people powerful skills now to heal from the past," says co-author Anna Saviano, MA, LPC, and Lilac Center therapist.

"You Empowered" provides solid tools designed to help readers foster personal awareness, reprocess traumatic events, learn meditation techniques, evaluate family systems, master life stages, and ultimately alter thought processes to secure a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life.

"It is possible for people to create the life they want, reform their identity and free themselves from victimization," says Amy Tibbitts, MSW, LCSW, director of Lilac Center and co-author of "You Empowered." "DBT is a proven model that makes emotional freedom a reality. In addition, EMDR offers a pathway to break free of trauma move forward using conscious mindfulness and personal wisdom."

Lilac Center takes a multi-faceted approach to counseling clients and employs such methods as traditional therapy, companion workbooks and online support through mydbtgroup.com.
