As the historian for the U.S. Army's Adjutant General's Corps, author Stephen E. Bower tells the story of one of its distinguished members who was killed tragically in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. His new biography "I'm Tim Maude, and I'm a Soldier: A Military Biography of Lieutenant General Timothy J. Maude" (published by iUniverse) details the life and Army career of the highest-ranking military official to lose his life in that day.

The biography highlights Maude's advancement through the ranks and to his nomination and eventual promotion to lieutenant general, the highest rank that an officer in U.S. Army's Adjutant General's Corps can attain. "I'm Tim Maude, and I'm a Soldier" is also the story of an Army family and its place within U.S. Army History from the Vietnam era to the losses occurring on September 11, 2001.

"The book covers the details of a modern military career from A-Z, revealing the challenges and experiences of an Army officer from his days as a junior-officer lieutenant to his ascendancy to the rank of lieutenant general and his untimely death at the hands of terrorist enemies on 9/11," Bower says.

Bower hopes his book is an inspirational portrayal of Maude's life-long commitment to serving others, particularly to the men and women of the U.S. Army who served with him. He believes that interested readers of military history, both within and without the Army, will enjoy the book. He feels members of the Army's Adjutant General's Corps especially, both past and present, will appreciate Maude's biography as a partial telling of their story and of their service to the nation and its people.
