Author Lekha Wickramasekaran brings readers the 5,000-year-old Hindu story, " The Ramayana: An Indian Epic" (published by iUniverse), in which she presents Kambar's story in English.

Ravana - the ten-headed king of the Rakshasas - and his brothers have all acquired incredible powers from the gods. Rather than use the powers for good, they use these powers for tyranny and evil, suppressing virtue and goodness wherever they find it. Some of the other gods take notice of this and go to Vishnu, their leader, with pleas for help.

God Vishnu knows Ravana never asked for protection from humans or animals, so he decides to incarnate four sons of Dasaratha in human form. His wife, Lakshmi, accompanies him as Sitha in human form. On Earth Rama and Sitha are unaware of their heavenly forms. They overcome many obstacles to find one another on Earth and bring peace by destroying Ravana and his followers.
