When Eyre Lightward loses both of her parents and all of their belongings in a house fire, she goes to live with Peter and Robyn Edmunsun and their children, Beatrice and Lachie. Eyre feels she's found a warm and loving home. But she discovers it's anything but normal.

After a harrowing encounter with a foursome of evil men, the Edmunsuns explain that they are Lightworkers, a group of people endowed with special powers. For centuries Lightworkers have been fighting against the Gothak, creatures from the underworld bent on destroying the world.

As Eyre tries to grasp the reality of her new life, she joins her friends as they seek admission to the Academy of Light, where students go to learn how to be Lightworkers. Eyre's journey unfolds in author L.R. Onase's new novel, "The Academy of Light: The Quest for the Aura" (published by Balboa Press AU).

"The characters are brave and strong, and they each have extraordinary abilities. This is the start of a journey that will take them through the search for answers to a hundred year old mystery. Whether they will be successful is the driving force that links the six books," Onase says. "We all have gifts and we can choose to use them how we want. We are all battling dark forces in some way, and this story is empowering to young people. Readers who like fantasy and stories about unique worlds would enjoy the journey of Eyre and her friends."
