As the father of three children, author Justin Bucher fully understands the crazy excuses kids will come up with to get out of their chores. Using this as inspiration, Bucher wrote his new children's book, "Daily Hassles of Being a Kid" (published by Archway Publishing), the story of a kid determined to find a fix to get out of each of his chores.

Jacob Hayes is an average kid, and he doesn't appreciate the responsibilities he's expected to tackle on a daily basis. Jacob is expected to clean out the cat's litter box, keep his room tidy and perform other tasks familiar to children. For every one of Jacob's chores or "hassles" as he calls them, he has come up with his own solution. For example, he tries to convince his mom that if she doesn't keep the house clean on her own, their entire family will get turned into zombies.

"I think that any elementary- or intermediate-school-aged child can identify and laugh about what this kid is going through," Bucher says. "It is a funny take on responsibilities and issues that kids go through, and I think kids will enjoy reading how this kid decides to 'fix' each 'hassle' that he goes through."

Citing that he is a child at heart, Bucher hopes that children reading his book will be able to find humor in the story and a common mind with Jacob. He also hopes that children will enjoy the full color illustrations featured throughout the book.
