'Joey Visits Grandpa' to Appear at 2016 Beijing, Frankfurt, and Guadalajara Book Fairs

Patricia Nichvolodoff' s illustrated children's book, "Joey Visits Grandpa" (published by Trafford Publishing), will be making stops at the upcoming Beijing, Frankfurt and Guadalajara book fairs occurring in August, October and November, respectively.

Set in southern British Columbia, the book introduces young readers to Joey and his grandpa. When Joey goes for a visit, the two have a lot of fun feeding grandpa's fish. But when Joey wants grandpa to read with him, they find that grandpa's glasses are missing. Finding them in the fish tank, Joey gets grandpa's glasses back, but more problems aren't far away. Joey must help his grandpa solve each problem that comes their way.

"My father was my inspiration for the book," Nichvolodoff explains. "He loved spending time with his own children and his grandchildren. One thing my father was notorious for was losing his glasses or dentures so I wanted to humorously portray that in my writing."

Depicting real life in an exaggerated and humorous manner, "Joey Visits Grandpa" shows the helpful, loving relationship Joey and his grandpa share. It is a story that encourages children to spend time with their family members and aims to put smiles on their faces.

"I feel my story influences families to (be) more interactive with each other in a back to the basics meaningful sort of way," Nichvolodoff says. "It also teaches children to be helpful individuals with a problem-solving mindset."

About the Author
Patricia Nichvolodoff was raised on a hobby farm with various animals and pets. She and her husband enjoy walking with their two Border Collies along the river. Nichvolodoff's love for teaching turned into a career and she received a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia and later received a Masters of Education from Simon Fraser University.
