GOTHENBURG, Neb. - Author Joe Brown's memoir, "Man, What a Time-Man, What a Life: Stories of My Life and My Family" (published by Inspiring Voices), takes readers to the rolling plains of Nebraska for a journey told through the eyes of a young Brown as he becomes a man.

"The book is about sorrow and love and finding our way in this crazy thing we call life sometimes," Brown says candidly. "It's about the simple things in this world that are easiest to overlook."

Set on a dairy farm in rural Nebraska, "Man, What a Time-Man, What a Life" is Brown's collection of short stories that reveal important moments in his life. Each story captures an experience that shaped Brown into the man he would become. Brown pays special tribute to his beloved family, especially his unsung hero, his father.

An excerpt from "Man, What a Time-Man, What a Life":

"Then in a blink of an eye those two fingers were back, all round and scarred. Nothing felt better, because the world always seemed right with those two fingers in my hand. I squeezed a little harder, and he squeezed me back. I didn't even look up. I knew it was him. I could smell him, and I could feel him. The world was right again. I had those two fingers back in my hand."
