Saga Press announced today that it will publish The Gospel of Loki, the first fantasy novel by Joanne M. Harris, author of Chocolat. The Gospel of Loki was a bestseller in the UK and will be published in the US onMay 5, 2015.

Loki is a Norse god like no other. From his recruitment by Odin from the realm of Chaos, through his years as the go-to man of Asgard, to his fall from grace in the build-up to Ragnarok, The Gospel of Loki is the unofficial history of the world's ultimate unreliable narrator.

Joanne M. Harris is best known as the author of the Whitbread-shortlisted Chocolat (made into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp) and many other bestselling novels, but she is also a Norse mythology fan and fantasy reader. She plays bass guitar in a band first formed when she was sixteen, is currently studying Old Norse, and lives with her husband and daughter in Yorkshire, about fifteen miles from the place she was born.

"As Loki would say, bringing his story to Saga Press, of all places, has the ring of destiny to it," Harris says. "But he has been known to exaggerate the truth, from time to time."

Executive editor Joe Monti acquired US Rights from Jessica Purdue, Rights Manager at the Orion Publishing Group, via Peter Robinson of Rogers, Coleridge & White, LTD.

"The Gospel of Loki cuts deep as the wittiest and wisest comedies do," says Monti. "Publishing Joanne's debut fantasy novel begs the need for a pinch to make sure I'm not dreaming."
