James TenEyck, a retired member of the computer science faculty of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, has completed his new book, "The Life and Times of Walter Reuther: An Unfinished Liberal Legacy": a cleverly organized collection of analyses of events and issues in American history and how Walter Reuther's bold liberal voice helped to shape the unfolding and end result of each episode.

TenEyck felt called to write this, his debut publication out of his "interest in public affairs, and his concern over the narrative currently being promoted in the public discourse." The proud grandfather of three desires nothing more than the simple wish made by most grandparents: to leave a world to his grandchildren that they can grow and thrive in comfortably, blissfully, and in a way that provides them every opportunity. "(I am seeking) to advance a liberal legacy that recently has been relentlessly attacked and too timidly defended."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, James TenEyck's work is a biography that is told with a passion, perspective and degree of skilled word-craft that reads with the dynamism of a work of historical fiction while adhering to the rigor demanded from a serious historical study.

For over thirty years, Walter Reuther and his United Automobile Workers union were in the vanguard of voices advancing liberal economic and social policies that raised the standard of living for many Americans, extended the protection of the law, and provided a measure of security for the aged, infirm, disabled, and unemployed. The narrative provides a liberal perspective through which to view a period of labor advances, the civil rights struggle, and hot and cold wars.

Reuther's story includes assassination attempts, confrontations with Senator Goldwater and Nikita Khrushchev, and a presence on the world stage and on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when Martin Luther King recounted his dream.

Readers who wish to experience this illuminating work can purchase"The Life and Times of Walter Reuther: An Unfinished Liberal Legacy" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
