James L. Emch Releases ALL BUT FORGOTTEN

In "All But Forgotten" (published by Trafford Publishing), author James L. Emch brings to attention to the little-known Dudley's Massacre, which took place during the War of 1812, and highlights the impacts this terrible massacre made on the course of American history.

"This event occurred 200 years ago and just a few miles from where I live," explains Emch, "but when I went to the library, I could not find a book written on it. It was then that I determined that if no one had written one by the time I retired I would endeavor to do so."

On May 5, 1813, William Dudley, colonel of the 13th Kentucky militia, and his regiment marched to the British batteries across from Fort Meigs where they intended to capture and destroy the British cannons. The militia drove off the British, but failed to destroy the cannons. They were then drawn into an ambush in the woods behind the cannons. There and in the events that followed, the Native Americans led by Shawnee Chief Tecumseh killed Dudley and over 200 of his men.

Through careful research, Emch pieces together this complex event, providing context and a wealth of primary sources. His work showcases the lasting effects this massacre had on the outcome of the War of 1812.
