Having been born in Scotland, author H.C Douglas takes pride in the country's rich history. Significant historical events of the country have been featured in famous Hollywood movies like Braveheart and Rob Roy. Inspired by the films and the unwavering encouragement of her mother, Douglas decided to write her first historical romance, "Rebel Heart." Now that the book is published, Douglas shares her joy to readers,

Set against the backdrop of the Jacobite Rebellions in Great Britain, "Rebel Heart" is a historical romance that tells about the story of a strong-willed young woman who fell in love with a rebel on the run. Minnette Telfer is high-spirited, beautiful and adventurous-but bored. Despite countless warnings from her rich father about the dangers of this time, she stumbles foolishly along a path that would set in motion a train of events that would put her father and family in danger.

To save the family, she is banished to her uncle's in France and is set to marry a capricious count frighteningly besotted with her. But Minnette's heart is already taken by someone else.

"Rebel Heart" boasts with its historical information, romance and humor. It is an enriching novel which offers readers a glimpse into Scotland's past and the struggle of the Jacobites to attain their political goals.

Entirely different from the usual boy-meets-girl romance, readers will find "Rebel Heart" both interesting and enjoyable. Douglas hopes the novel will fill readers' hearts with warmth and the desire to read more.
