A war survivor bravely looks back at all the pains and hardships the World War 2 and the Russian occupation caused them. While telling her family's story, she bares a mother's heart that will forever be grateful to the efforts of the United States from saving many civilians by winning the war. Author Gittel Maria Barankowitcz's "They called us Nazi's Ns and White Trash" tells a poignant memoir of the life during the war and the challenges of a mixed marriage.

Feeding the interests of readers about World War 2, Barankowitcz's story mostly revolves about the chaotic and bloody account of the global war. With concentration on the bombing of Berlin, the Russian occupation, the yellow "Juden" stars and the six million Jewish people who died in the concentration camps, this narrative is like a ride down not only memory but history lane also. With a personal touch as author incorporates personal experiences, and her husband's plight in the war as one of the valiant soldiers of the United States of America, this book also commemorates the challenges and the discrimination of a mixed marriage back in the 1950's.

As she looks back through her writing, Barankowitcz chronicles their family life having four racially mixed children and the drastic changes they had to face and when they arrived at the US after the war. Yet amidst all the difficulties she braved to get where she is now, Barankowitcz will be forever grateful to the United States for the shelter and warm welcome gave to her and her family after being displaced by war. "They called us Nazi's Ns and White Trash" is not just a memoir of the horrors and the traumas of war but a message of gratitude to a country which the author believes saved her, her loved ones and many others.

About the Author
Living in the United States of America was a childhood dream come true for Gittel Maria Barankowitcz. Still vivid in her mind are some Shirley Temple movies, the skyscrapers in the big cities, and the American Indian stories. Growing up during WW2 and the totalitarian Nazi regime made the author appreciate the American government and how it is constructed. Berlin, Germany is her place of birth and she still loves it, but there was hell to pay during WW2 and then the Russian occupation which made her look for her freedom in the US. Her life in the USA was not always pleasant but after all is said and done, she can say that they made it.
