STANTHORPE, Australia

In her candid new memoir "For This Cause: Against All Odds" (published by Balboa Press AU), author Nascosta InCristo recalls how her first toke of marijuana sent her into a figurative and literal prison of drug use - and the steps she took to escape the clutches of substance abuse.

"For This Cause" documents InCristo's lifelong struggle to move forward in her life. As a child, she lived on the streets. Throughout her teen and adult years, she experienced a culture of violence, rape and criminal activity. These experiences led her to seek rebirth in the form of faith in Jesus Christ.

"I want people to know that God loves them with all His heart and truly cares about their situation, no matter the depth or scale of it," InCristo says.

InCristo says that addictions to things like food, gambling, drugs or pornography are a global problem, but she feels these issues may not always be solved by counseling sessions or rehabilitation programs. She wrote "For This Cause" for those people looking for a long-term change to destructive habits, which includes a push for faith in God.

To parents, teachers and counselors, InCristo hopes "For This Cause" will serve as a helpful depiction of how recovery from addiction can open up a world of possibility and success.
