Eddie Marie Durham Pens WHILE BEING A PARENT

Children are said to be a result of their upbringing. For many parents, this is seen as both a positive and a negative as they hope to have a positive impact on their kids, but fear that their efforts will not be good enough.

Eddie Marie Durham, a retired schoolteacher, has seen these hopes and fears come to play while interacting with the parents of her students and has felt these same emotions while raising three of her own children.

In her new book, "While Being a Parent," Durham provides advice to young parents on how to rear clever, disciplined and respectful children in today's modern society.

"I wanted to share with others what I learned from playing a part in the upbringing of own children as well as the thousands of students I taught," Durham says.

Durham shares her personal and professional experiences in the form of short stories, scripture and poetry.

"While Being a Parent" shares a glimpse into the life of a mother and teacher with insightful lessons on how to discipline children, incorporate religion into family life, and be an active participant in nurturing young boys and girls as they grow to be adults.

"Being a parent is a lifetime job," Durham says. "I want to offer help to other parents who are on this lifelong journey with me."

Eddie Marie Durham is a retired elementary school teacher with many accolades including being named "Teacher of the Year" twice. Durham is an active member of the community serving as a volunteer, mentor and friend to many. She currently resides in Port Arthur, Texas with her husband.
