"My Walk of Faith, Hope, and Love" (published by Balboa Press) tells the story of one woman's personal transformation from breast cancer, and how the music of John Denver served as a springboard to help extricate her from severe depression brought on by the disease and its radical treatment.

"My book demonstrates the importance and the POWER of music - which is a powerful therapy for healing; even Plato and Aristotle talked about music's power," says author Dr. Kay Johnson-Gentile. "I discuss how music can be used with kids suffering with cancer. Bottom line - my book demonstrates my own personal transformation from a dependent woman to an independent one!"

Taking things full circle, Johnson-Gentile also released an album of original songs, "Faith, Hope, and Love, This is What I Sell" which she hopes will help others who are suffering the way Denver's music inspired her to push through the pain.

An excerpt from "My Walk of Faith, Hope, and Love":
Knowing my true love for music, Dad and Bill connected our home intercom system to our living room stereo. They began piping music into my upstairs bedroom hoping it would be a catalyst to get me more motivated and focused on living.
"How dare they play this music without asking me? Do they really think this will take my pain away? They do not know how terrible I feel," I said to myself. I was not happy with Dad's plan.
But within a few days, the music began to have an effect on me. I became a captive, especially to John Denver's beautiful songs.
