Discussing Western civilization's challenges, "Freedom to Argue: We the People versus They the Government" (published by iUniverse) explores slowing economic growth, undocumented immigration, Islam's jihad and the corruption of values caused by too much wealth. It looks to these issues as reasons why a citizens' rebellion against traditional political parties is growing.

"We live in a 24 hour news cycle with much of the news being anecdotal personal stories," author Dick Sim explains. "The result is an accumulation of data points. This book is an attempt to connect the dots. To see the big picture not only around the world but as it has progressed over the last sixty years and where it might be going in the next sixty years."

Advocating a more pragmatic and local government approach to managing society, "Freedom to Argue" focuses primarily on Europe and the United States and how they are affected by realities in the Middle East and Africa. With an eye toward the global economy, global government, population trends, standard of living disparities, religious differences, ethnic differences and more, it pulls together the factors that are integral to current political debates.

Ultimately, Sim hopes his book "challenges (readers') thinking" and that "their views are better informed as a result."
