According to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, an estimated 5.1 million Americans may have Alzheimer's disease. Not included in this statistic: the number of family and friends who have loved ones experiencing the disease.

D. Rogers, a professional in the aging field for more than 30 years and an experienced caregiver for 10, understands the journey every caregiver takes. Drawing from her own experiences, Rogers provides comfort and support to caregivers everywhere in her new spiritual guide, "To Reach a Reason."

"The good days will carry more weight than the bad days," Rogers says. "Hope will always push a person forward to another day."

Addressing the increase in instances of Alzheimer's disease today and the changes seen in families affected by it, "To Reach a Reason" provides a spiritual perspective to caregiving. Rogers reminds caregivers they are not alone on their journey, demonstrating the blessings that can come from challenges.

Her new book will leave readers with the feeling that spiritual fulfillment as a caregiver is a process, caregiving is a journey that is not meant to be made alone, and that seeking God's hope is always going to help us find a better part of ourselves.

"A person may not automatically look at the challenge as a way to become a better person on a spiritual level," Rogers says. "It takes an acknowledgement of vulnerability."
