The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates a rate of approximately 2.7 per 100,000 persons will be kidnapped each year, according to their most recent findings. In author Claire Miles new thriller, "Lies, Lust, and Silence" (published by Trafford Singapore), the sequel to "Secrets, Sex and Lies," the Farraday family must cope with the kidnappings of two cousins and the murder of another family member as a terrible plot of ruin the family unfolds before their eyes.

Kidnapping is a particularly sensitive topic with Miles. Her two sons, now adults, were nearly picked up when they were small. "You don't forget that feeling in a hurry," says Miles.

It seems that a curse has been placed upon the Farraday family. Two little girls, Sarina and Lucia, have vanished without a trace, and a mother is murdered. What was thought to be a bizarre coincidence may be something much darker and more threatening as Mitchell Farraday, the patriarch of the family, has a few secrets of his own. As the haunting secrets begin to surface, the five brothers and one sister of the Farraday family are pulled into the mystery as it becomes frighteningly clear that these are not random accidents, but the work of something much more sinister.

Miles believes the strength of the novel lies in the "complexity of the Farraday family, their tumultuous history, the strong bonds that exist within the family and their pursuit of stability and happiness."

Readers will be pleased to know that Miles is planning a third novel in the Farraday saga, "Solitaire, Sin and Desire."
