From Dottie Rexford, author of "May Snow," comes a new story set in the antiquated Amish world. "Cora Pooler" (published by WestBow Press) is the story of a woman living between the English world and her Amish heritage. The book was recently awarded First Place Writer's Digest Self-Published Award in the Inspirational category.

Cora Pooler has been shunned by her Amish community for abandoning an infant child. She leaves and lives in the English world for 20 years before returning to the Amish community. Cora comes back to find out more about her sister's mysterious death and to learn the fate of the child she abandoned.

"Every woman, at some point, questions if she is living the life that is what she really wants," Rexford says. "Cora Pooler, like so many of us, draws on a mixture of inner strength, desire and conviction to determine and enact her life choices."

An excerpt from "Cora Pooler":

"As I drove down the narrow roads of crumbled gravel and dirt pressed firm, roads unlined with white paint, their borders free from stretching poles and hanging wires, there came a trembling within me, a reaching back to a different way of life, a life I'd left, a life that had been denied to me. I had been banished, labeled a sinner, counted as unworthy for salvation. Shunned."
