TARPON SPRINGS, Fla.

As a registered nurse, the author Marsha Goldstein knows that it takes a lot of personnel to interact and keep a hospital thriving. Sadly though, she has also noticed that due to the economy many small hospitals are closing down. In "Code Blues" (published by Xlibris) the author creates a series of short stories that captures the essence of this problem.

The stories in "Code Blues" are set in a fictional small hospital in New York City. It is about to be closed. Although each story can be read independently, the common thread is the impact of such closure on the community as a whole. Small hospitals are as important to the community as the neighborhood grocery store, and many of the people living in the area are served by the hospital.

This eye-opening read gives readers a more thorough look into the lives of people who are part of the staff and in the community, and how closure could affect society as a whole.
