C. C. Long wanted to provide a sense of adventure for her children, a need to have age-appropriate excitement and creativity. She believes the idea that 'romance is not the same as sex' is often forgotten in the entertainment world. She wanted to express to the children in her life that love is a treasure one finds in life, not just an emotion that leads to sex. This message she wanted to impart prompted Long to write "Connected Minds" (published by Balboa Press).

This first book in a series is about Vanessa, a young girl who almost instantly falls for a guy she knows very little about. Along the way, she is also introduced to the concept of having magical talents and a 5,000-year-old curse. She discovers there are many choices to be made in life, but some things just cannot be avoided.

"I feel this story is an exciting adventure. It is a young adult occult-fiction that is an age-appropriate romance with a magical insight to a forgotten history," Long says. "The overall concept for this book is being open-minded. The idea of being able to see past the general idea of what is normal and having the capability to embrace the possibilities unbelievable things can bring."

Through the publication of "Connected Minds," Long hopes readers will see the passion and excitement there is in everyday events, a love for literature and an open mind for life's next adventure.
