Author Michael Murphy to Launch 'Love Unfiltered'

When Michael Murphy lost his wife to a nine-year battle with breast cancer, he didn't know how to go on. He thought he'd lost the unconditional love she had given him. However, through his moving tale of loss, addiction, and eventual redemption in Love Unfiltered, Michael shares his insight that true love cannot die.

Murphy does chronicle his relationship with Margot in the book; however, perhaps more important is the cause the book sales will benefit. The 'Love from Margot' Foundation envisions a world in which those who fall ill are never alone and are able to make medical decisions without worrying about the financial burden they may cause. The foundation also hopes to help the sick retain their dignity while they battle their illness. Murphy himself covers overhead and expenses so that the foundation may use 100 percent of donations to help clients.

The assistance the foundation provides comes in the form of financial, medical, and spiritual support specifically for low-income and underinsured women who have been diagnosed with a woman's cancer. Currently, the 'Love from Margot' Foundation specifically gives this support to women in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In his book, Murphy discusses that his passion for philanthropy began when he realized that serving others was a worthy and exciting purpose; the 'Love from Margot' Foundation is clearly a manifestation of that passion. The foundation hopes to help all its clients overcome any challenges that may arise after they are diagnosed with cancer, while maintaining their and their families' healthy standard of living. Promoting the greatest amount of peace possible within their struggle and the ability to focus their energy on healing is something Murphy, whose own wife passed away in 2011, sees as essential. Love Unfiltered will launch on September 16, 2014 through Next Century Publishing.

Michael Murphy is the founder of the Love from Margot foundation in Oakland, California, which he created in 2012 in memory of his wife, Margot, to help those suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases. He funds the foundation through his work as president of the Volkswagen of Oakland, his job for the past seventeen years.
