Wilmington, N.C.

When a special agent of the Department of Homeland Security discovers a nefarious plot, he stops at nothing to thwart the men responsible. This is the premise that drives author A.W. Hammock's new novel, "Night Of The Hatchet" (published by Lulu).

Former Delta Force Operator Caleb Cook, a man with a Jekyl & Hyde persona, is now contracting for the Department of Homeland Security. He uncovers a plot involving a drug cartel assisting a terrorist cell to smuggle a deadly weapon into the United States.

Now, Caleb must stop the attack and bring the men responsible to justice. Readers will follow Caleb Cook as he tracks the web of this plot through Costa Rica, North Carolina, Virginia, D.C. and El Paso, Texas. During the ensuing battles, Caleb's alter ego, "The Hatchet," is unleashed. The Hatchet is a man bent on destruction and the death of the head of the cartel.

"A subtle tone in the book identifies the evil inside all of us, personified by 'The Hatchet' in the main character Caleb Cook, but representing the shadow of all mankind," Hammock says.

Hammock states that he has crafted a high-tempo action story written in the style of Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum and Clive Cussler. He hopes readers will be entertained by "Night Of The Hatchet" as they are transported into a world of adventure.
