Author Robert Adams uses the adventures of a bear and its friends to teach children important life lessons about personal finance in his creative new children's book, "Austin's Allowance: Young Money Books" (published by AuthorHouse).

Accompanied by full-color illustrations that bring the characters to life, the book is narrated by its title character, a young bear named Austin who has just started getting an allowance from his parents.

Austin is excited to be able to buy ice cream for himself and his friends, but doesn't realize how expensive ice cream is and winds up spending most of his allowance. The experience teaches him a valuable lesson about saving money, while his story shows the importance of staying on a budget and living within one's means.

"Children are never too young to learn about finance," Adams says. "They start out learning about their allowance and saving money and over time they learn how to balance the family checkbook and learn about the family budget. They are a sponge and the more we teach them now the more they have them as fundamental beliefs as they get older."
