According to Deadline, ABC has given a cast-contingent pilot production commitment to a single-camera comedy which will center on a hip-hop artist-turned-mayor. The project hails from 'Late Night' writer Jeremy Bronson, recent HAMILTON star and Tony award winner Daveed Diggs and Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark's Bluegrass FanFare.

Written and executive produced by Bronson, the currently untitled show will follow a "struggling hip-hop artist who runs for mayor to promote his mixtape - and wins."

Daveed Diggs, who recently won a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his dual role as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in HAMILTON, is not expected to act in the project, but will serve as executive producer.

Diggs made his Broadway debut in HAMILTON. His national tour credits include Word Becomes Flesh. Regional: In the Red and Brown Water, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, The Tempest, Troilus and Cressida, Mirrors in Every Corner. Albums include CLPPNG (Sub Pop Records) and Midcity with Clipping; Small Things to a Giant. The actor can currently be seen in a recurring role on ABC's BLACK-ISH, as well as in Netflix's THE GET DOWN, from Baz Luhrmann.
