In Patricia Braxtonâ€s new book “A Parentâ€s Guide to a Peaceful Home: Transformation Begins at Homeâ€' (published by Trafford Publishing), she helps guide readers in managing their home in a peaceful, loving way in order to ensure success for their children at home and at school.

Readers will learn of Braxtonâ€s ‘Toward Affective Development†model or TAD, which gives practical advice in helping parents teach their children responsibility, respect, discipline and other positive character traits. TAD also teaches parents how they can relate to their children properly while also showing children how they can connect with their parents. She takes readers, step-by-step, through a detailed guide to help facilitate an atmosphere where love, compassion, respect and other virtues are taught by example and reinforced to produce a lasting, peaceful home.

An excerpt from “A Parentâ€s Guide to a Peaceful Homeâ€':

“Does the teacher really have the full allotted time to teach Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies and assure that no child is left behind and AYP? You wonder why they are not passing? You blame the teachers and criticize them because the child has not learned. The majority of the children have not been trained at home.â€'

Braxton hopes that her book will help parents see that they are the first teachers and they need to take that role seriously. “This book is meant to assist parents with alternative methods to raise their children in love, peace and discipline,â€' states the author. “When this is began and implemented at home, it spills into the schools and neighborhoods.â€'
