When 12-year-old S.D. Cargle approached author and illustrator Carol Welty Roper with an idea for a scary story, Roper agreed to collaborate with her. Cargle provided the plot and Roper brought Cargle's characters and scenes to life.

With Cargle's ideas and Roper's writing, the two have now published their new thriller, "Rebecca's Revenge" (published by Trafford Publishing).

It's Halloween night in the town of Diablo and Rebecca is looking forward to a night of fun and trick-or-treating. When she rings the doorbell of a decrepit house, an old witch pulls Rebecca inside and murders her. Now a ghost, Rebecca vows to take revenge on the witch and save the other souls the witch murdered before her.

In her ghostly form, Rebecca races back to her house where she appears to her brother, Ben, the only one who can see her. It is now up to Ben to solve Rebecca's murder and put a stop to the witch's terrible deeds once and for all.

Packed with plenty of twists and turns, "Rebecca's Revenge" offers a terrifying treat for children and their parents. Cargle and Roper hope to provide readers with an entertaining yet educational tale.
