Below are photos of the William Conger Exhibition at Studio Vendome Projects on view until October 18, 2014.

Organized by Saul Ostrow, the show includes a series of paintings, drawings and gouaches on paper by Chicago based artist, William Conger. Conger's unique paintings represent an ongoing investigation of abstraction that subtly fuses figural and landscape references to a vocabulary of irregular geometric forms. The works consist of shapes strung together along linear paths, creating a web of ambiguous positive or negative space, figure or ground. This enables him to modulate the shapes, add atmosphere, play with illogical light and allude to things in a suggestive way. By this means his work carries classical abstraction into a new visual territory. If you are interested in seeing the exhibition in person you can visit Studio Vendome Projects at 30 Grand St, New York, NY. For more information on Conger go to www.williamconger.com.
