The New-York Historical Society to offer free pop-up exhibition on Governors Island, researched, curated and hosted by Teen Historians. Scroll down for a sneak peek!

Did you know New York City had its own "Little Tea Party" in April 1774? And did you know that the largest Revolutionary War battle (and General Washington's most resounding defeat) was fought in Brooklyn? From the New-York Historical Society's collection of historic documents, artifacts, and works of art, Student Historian Teen Leaders have curated an exhibition that sheds light on these stories and other epic events that occurred in New York during the Revolutionary War. Utilized by both American patriots and the British at different times during the American Revolution, Governors Island sets the stage for the pop-up exhibition. Teens will also offer exhibition tours and other activities for visiting families.

For more information, visit www.nyhistory.org/exhibitions/revolution-nyc-war-independence. The exhibit will be on view weekends, 10am-5pm (through September 27, 2015) at Governors Island, Nolan Park (House 18). The exhibition is free.
