Australians will be tempted with an Extension Program of events and activations specially curated for the Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) 2016 International Series presentation of Ballet Preljocaj's Snow White. The Extension Program will kick off from 22 August 2016 at select city sites in Brisbane and will continue throughout the season from 2 to 11 September 2016 at QPAC.

Announced earlier this year, Ballet Preljocaj will be bringing their critically acclaimed work, Snow White direct from France, with costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier and music by Gustav Mahler. This season of Snow White will be an exclusive, Australian premiere for the romantic and contemporary retelling of The Brothers Grimm fairy tale at the Lyric Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

QPAC Executive Director - Programming Mr Ross Cunningham said the Extension Program reflects the broader residency model we aspire to deliver each International Series.

"We look to provide a variety of opportunities for the visiting company, their work and the associated stories and themes to truly live in our city in the lead up to and during the season.

"Along with the nine performances by Ballet Preljocaj, from 2 to 11 September, we are inviting people to ignite their imagination, as well as stimulate and explore concepts and emotions through various conversation events, pop-up performances, exhibits and interactive installations and experiences connected to Snow White," concluded Mr Cunningham.

The Snow White Extension Program includes a combination of FREE experiences and ticketed events exploring the themes of narcissism, obsession, jealousy and much more.

The Magic Mirror (FREE Experience), located pre-season in front of the Treasury Casino and Hotel, Reddacliff Place, Brisbane City and on the QPAC Melbourne Street Green during the season. This large, interactive installation entices its audience to consider the questions that haunt them, with the mirror responding when spoken to.

The Confessional cubicle (FREE Experience) will also be located in Brisbane CBD Riverside precinct pre-season and at QPAC during the season. Inspired by Mae West's quote "I used to be Snow White but I drifted", the Confessional is an immersive space where participants can discover the confessions of others or anonymously confess a tale of their own.

Conversations (FREE Ticketed Event) with key artists unpacking the themes, ideas and creative processes behind Ballet Preljocaj's Snow White. The Conversations will immediately follow the Saturday 3 September evening performance and Wednesday 7 September special 'Student Movement' performance of Snow White.

Our Obsession with Beauty (FREE Experience) invites people to take a walk through the QPAC pedestrian tunnel and learn more about the changing ideas and representations of beauty.

Once Upon a Time (FREE pop-up performances) by local artists will be occurring pre-show at QPAC. Exploring the darker side of fairy tales with a mixed program of contemporary dance, classical music, comedy, spoken word and musical theatre.

The Supper Club will see The Lyrebird Restaurant at QPAC open pre and post-show; inviting visitors to "pick your poison" and enjoy "just one bite" from a special "light and dark" Snow White inspired dinner menu and cocktail list.
