In a coup for Queensland audiences, the critically acclaimed West End (UK) production of Orwell's 1984 will be brought to the massive Lyric Theatre stage at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for a strictly limited season in June 2017.

Produced by UK theatrical innovators Headlong along with Nottingham Playhouse and The Almeida Theatre, this big production of George Orwell's dystopian classic premiered in 2013 and since then it has become an international phenomenon.

Labelled a literary masterpiece that meets sheer theatrical ambition, this production has been seen by over a quarter of a million people worldwide; enjoying three hugely successful West End seasons as well as an international tour including a sold out season at the 2015 Melbourne Festival.

Adapter-directors Robert Icke and Duncan MacMillan have grown a solid reputation on theatre stages globally since the production premiered and now with a brand new Australian cast, their thrilling vision will continue to intrigue audiences in Brisbane as part of an Australian national tour.

Set in a world where an invasive government keeps a malevolently watchful eye on its citizens, this radical and much-lauded staging explores surveillance, identity and why Orwell's vision of the future is as relevant now as ever.

Don't miss this opportunity to see truly sensational theatre. Strictly limited QPAC season from Wednesday 14 June to Sunday 18 June, 2017. Tickets on-sale now at www.qpac.com.au or 136 246. Season cast soon to be announced.
