The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF), celebrating 37 years as Cape Cod's premiere presenter of summer chamber music, presents The Tempest Trio in concert on Tuesday, August 9, 7:30 pm, at Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit.

Cellist Amit Peled makes a welcome return from a prior solo appearance at the Festival in the summer debut of widely recognized chamber ensemble The Tempest Trio, including renowned violinist Ilya Kaler and pianist Alon Goldstein. Finishing up their ninth season together, three instrumentalists join forces to perform cornerstones of the piano trio repertoire, including works by Beethoven, Bernstein and Dvorak.

A highlight of the performance is Peled's appearance with a famed 1733 Matteo Goffriller cello, launching a performance 'road trip' across the continent, on loan from the widow of famed Catalan cellist Pablo Casals. The instrument was played by Casals himself for such important dignitaries as Queen Victoria and John F. Kennedy during his highly successful eight decade career. More than 30 years following Casals' passing, his widow entrusted Israeli-American Peled with the instrument on long term loan. The opportunity has been a remarkable experience for him, last year celebrating the centennial of a Casal's 1915 performance at Peabody Conservatory of John Hopkins University in a duplicate concert performance on the same instrument, where Peled currently serves as professor.

Combining technical mastery, expressive depth, and experience, The Tempest Trio is a stronghold as one of the most exciting trios on the international scene. Each virtuoso member brings their own successful solo career to their performances, collectively bringing vitality to the concert stage with their dynamic musical interplay and collaborative spirit. Performing regularly in cities throughout the United States, Europe, Israel and Asia, The Trio shares unique and exotic programs with the public, ranging from the standard, rare and commissioned pieces of repertoire.

As committed pedagogues, the members of the Tempest Trio are all teaching in prestigious universities and summer festivals around the world and share their knowledge, experience and joy of music making through intensive educational residencies, masterclasses and lectures which they offer during each season.

Program: The Tempest Trio: Cotuit Center for the Arts, 7:30 p.m. Ilya Kaler, violin; Amit Peled, cello; Alon Goldstein, piano.

Beethoven: Trio No. 5 in D Major for Piano, Violin and Cello ("Ghost") Opus 70, No. 1
